Cleaning Under the Nile Clothing and Toys

Please follow the specific care instructions on the garment you are going to wash.

Our clothing and accessories typically have the following Egyptian washing and care instructions:

* Machine wash warm with like colors * Do not bleach * Tumble dry low * Warm iron

toy care

Since our toys are made and stuffed with 100% organic Egyptian cotton, it’s important that you do not soak the toys and leave them out to air dry. They should be thoroughly dried in the dryer before taken out to play.

* Machine wash and machine dry
* Toys should not be immersed in water and left out to air dry
* Dry thoroughly in a machine dryer to ensure the organic cotton inside does not remain wet (if left wet, mold may grow)
* Put a bath towel with your toys in the dryer to dry faster

spot cleaning

The only time you spot clean an Under the Nile toy is if it specifies 'spot' cleaning on the hangtag.
Spot clean instructions are for our larger toys that cannot be machine washed. Some toys that require spot cleaning are our dress up dolls.

*Take a damp cloth with a mild detergent to wash away the spot that requires cleaning. Do no soak the toy in water.

shrinkage

All of our products are made of 100% organic Egyptian cotton, and do not contain any chemical finishing to prevent shrinkage. Egyptian cotton care is a little different from other fabrics. When you first receive your items, they may appear a little big – that’s because we’ve built extra room to allow for the garment to shrink after the first wash to ensure the best fit for your baby. We also allow extra diaper room for cloth diapers.

* Average shrinkage rate for our items is 6%

detergent

Please care for your Under the Nile products as well as the planet by using biodegradable detergents that do not contain phosphates, bleach, optimal whiteners, chlorine or petroleum-based surfactants.

blanket care

Our king, queen, twin, and crib blankets are made from brushed organic Egyptian cotton with a high pile. Egyptian cotton washing instructions: after the first wash, the fibers will condense to create a ‘sherpa’ like effect to add to its warmth, uniqueness, and beauty. We recommend using a tennis ball or dryer balls for efficient drying.
