A mom’s life can be hectic enough without having to worry about being the best eco-friendly mom we can be. But, there are many easy eco-friendly tips that even the busiest of moms can do to help mother earth.

Here are just a few little tips and changes that can make a big difference:  

• Minimize waste - swap out disposable wipes for cloth wipes. Cloth wipes are reusable, easy to store, and conveniently always on hand. • DIY - puree your own baby food instead of purchasing packaged puree.  Making your own baby food with healthy, fresh foods pureed in your blender allows you to keep and store food in glass jars as opposed to using plastic food containers. Any leftover purees can also be frozen and saved for later in your eco-friendly BPA-free silicone ice cube trays. 

• Reuse - Shopping with reusable cloth tote bags instead of plastic bags from the store is a great and easy way to be green. Lots of grocery stores now sell cloth tote bags, making it convenient and accessible. After restocking your fridge, make sure to put the bags back in your car so they are ready for the next time you’re out and about running errands.  

• Recycle - Babies grow so quickly, that clothing and other items like strollers and toys don’t often get used more than a few times. A wonderful way to decrease waste is to recycle clothing and baby accessories. My friend, whose daughter is a year older than mine, graciously passed down a ton of barely used clothing, shoes, accessories and much more! And when another friend had her daughter months after my daughter was born, we continued passing items down again. Anything that wasn’t needed by my friends or myself was donated. 😊 

Taking small steps to being eco-friendly can easily become second nature to your busy routine. Plus, knowing you are making that much of a difference in the world, and in your children’s world, is always worth the effort.
